Right to Know, SB 954 — case study preview
Engagement
  • Campaign site network
  • Admin dashboard
  • Advocacy messaging
  • Metrics tracking

We designed and deployed a network of localized advocacy sites supporting SB 954, and created an admin dashboard to control the campaign and track metrics in real time, from submissions to legislator outreach.

Challenge

The Right to Know coalition needed to reach five different California legislators with distinct, localized advocacy sites, and still run the campaign as one coordinated operation. Off-the-shelf advocacy tools couldn't hold the design bar, and hand-rolled one-off sites would leave the team with no way to update messaging, track engagement, or coordinate outreach across the network. The core policy is one thing (SB 954), but the audience for each legislator is local, and the campaign had to feel local without fragmenting into five unrelated projects.

Approach

We designed a coherent visual system that flexes per legislator, then deployed a coordinated network of sites on a shared component library so updates propagate in one place. A central admin dashboard sits on top of the network, so the team can update messaging, publish new calls to action, track submissions, and monitor legislator-level outreach in real time. The whole system is built to be operated by campaign staff, not engineers, so the coalition keeps control of the surface throughout the legislative cycle. Everything is instrumented from day one, so the team can see which sites, messages, and audiences are actually driving action.

System & deliverables

  • Campaign brand and visual system
  • Five legislator-targeted advocacy sites
  • Shared component library for rapid iteration
  • Central admin dashboard for messaging and metrics
  • Submission tracking and outreach analytics
  • Content model designed for non-technical operators

Outcome

The campaign runs as one network. Coalition operators can update every site, track engagement across legislators, and coordinate outreach from a single admin, without engineering support. The same infrastructure is reusable for future advocacy pushes, so the coalition is compounding a system, not shipping another disposable campaign site.
